Carpenter And A Piece Of Wood - Puzzle

A carpenter has to cut a piece of wood 5' long from a fallen tree. But he has nothing with him to measure the wood except a piece of string. There Lies adesk 3' x 7' which he has already made.

How will he be able to accomplish his task?

  1. First subtract the 7' from 3' there by you will get ans:4'
    Now again subtract the ans:4' from previous 3' so you will get 1'.
    So now 4'+1' =5' after that we can cut the wood

  2. measure 3+3+3+3 and then measure 7 backward.... 12-7 =5'

    10/2 = 5

  6. With the string we measure 7' and fold it in half witch is 3 1/2' then we measure 3' and again folding the string in half witch is 1 1/2' + 3 1/2 = 5'
